Tul’ix | Arvigo® Womb & Belly Care

Daphne Vosberg Aldana, CPM is a practitioner of Tul’ix Indigenous Arts, also known as the Arvigo Techniques of Mayan Abdominal Therapy (ATMAT). This therapy is derived from the teachings of the late Don Elijio Panti, a Yucatec Maya traditional healer who served his community in Belize during the latter half of the 20th century. His apprentice, the naprapathic doctor, Rosita Arvigo, further expanded upon his teachings, and shared them with the western world. Recently, the certifying institution renamed this work for Tul’ix, the Maya word for dragonfly, to honor its indigenous roots.

Focusing on the regions of the abdomen and pelvis, Tul’ix promotes balance in the body, particularly the digestive and reproductive system. It encourages healthy circulation of lymph, blood, and chu’lel, the Maya equivalent of chi or life force. Structurally, it works to align the hips, sacrum, and nourish the fascia and ligaments that support the abdominal and reproductive organs. In female-bodied people, it can encourage the uterus into optimum position, in male-bodied people, it can promote prostate health. Through all of these mechanisms working together, Tul’ix is a supportive therapy for numerous conditions such as: organ prolapse, uterine fibroids, PCOS, painful menstruation, endometriosis, GERD, IBS, constipation, and other reproductive/ digestive ailments*. It can also be a powerful ally for those on fertility journeys and healing from childbirth.

Please be aware that conditions such as cancer and other acute infection are contraindications for receiving womb & belly care. Deep palpation is contraindicated when there is suspected pregnancy, during the first trimester, and IUD placement, and not recommended within 5 days prior to and during menstruation. Other aspects of the therapy are available during these times. Postpartum people can safely receive womb & belly care 6 weeks post-vaginal birth and 8-12 weeks post-cesarean birth.
